Mark Alert! (Creating a database)

Collate and analyse data to produce information (7)

Good marks…

You will get good marks if you:

·        download the data for the database and examine it carefully before you start designing the database structure;

·        use meaningful field names, correct data types and suitable field lengths for the given data;

·        include validations on fields where possible;

·        import the given data and check that it has all been imported correctly.

Bad marks…

You will lose marks if:

·        you need help designing your database;

·        you need help to import the data correctly;

·        you have chosen wrong data types, unsuitable field names or unsuitable field lengths;

·        you have not included sensible validation rules and validation messages;

·        your database design is identical to someone else’s.
